A clearer way to navigate a museum.
This was a university assignment to come up with a concept for a new wayfinding (or, more accurately, wayshowing) concept for Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It started my interest in all kinds of visual information systems, be it in the environment or online.
I paid special attention to the map of the museum as this was the piece of wayshowing I always found the most lacking in existing systems. Rather than creating a complex and confusing schematic of the museum building I concentrated on showing the relation of the different rooms in the building - so if I want to get to the In Touch exhibition from How Art is Made, I have to take a right at Burne Jones room - much like Vignelli's New York City's subway map.
